This policy explains how Clario Search ("Clario Search", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your personal data when you visit our website or get in touch. We are committed to handling your information transparently and in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

2. What personal data we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and deliver our services. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
- Contact & enquiry details, your name, email address, phone number, business name and website, and anything you choose to tell us in a message.
- Project information, for wireframe, audit and discovery requests: your goals, competitors, current website, social media profiles and any brand files you upload.
- Booking details, if you book a discovery call, the name, email and time slot you provide through our scheduling tool.
- Technical data, basic, non-identifying information your browser sends automatically (such as approximate region and device type) and limited local storage needed for the site to function.
We do not intentionally collect special category data (e.g. health, race, political views). Please don't include sensitive information of that kind in your messages.
3. Why we use it & our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR Art. 6 / Jersey equivalent) |
|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries & quotes | Steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract; our legitimate interests in responding to you. |
| Delivering our services | Performance of a contract with you. |
| Booking & managing calls | Steps at your request; legitimate interests. |
| Improving our website & service | Our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. |
| Sending you information you ask for | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. |
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We share it only with trusted service providers ("processors") who help us run our business, and only as far as necessary:
- Formspree, processes and delivers our website form submissions to us.
- Google, provides the appointment scheduling tool used to book discovery calls, and Google Search Console, which we use to measure search performance.
- Our email and hosting providers, used to store and respond to your correspondence.
Each provider is bound to handle your data securely and only on our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
5. How long we keep it
We keep personal data only for as long as we need it:
- Enquiries that don't become projects, up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records, for the duration of our engagement and up to 6 years afterwards, to meet tax, accounting and legal obligations.
- Uploaded brand files, deleted once your project is complete or your request is closed, unless you become a client.
6. International transfers
As a Jersey-based business serving UK and European clients, your data may be processed in Jersey, the UK or the EEA. Some providers (such as Google and Formspree) may process data outside these areas. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards recognised under data protection law, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, to keep your data protected.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data erased ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it
To exercise any of these, email luke@clariosearch.com. We'll respond within one month and won't charge a fee in most cases.
8. Cookies & similar technologies
We keep cookies to a minimum. The booking calendar embedded on our site is provided by Google and may set its own cookies once you choose to load it, which is why we ask for your consent first. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.
9. How we protect your data
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable providers, to keep your data secure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take all reasonable steps to protect your information.
10. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority:
- Jersey: Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC), jerseyoic.org
- UK: Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk
11. Changes to this policy
